04 Frequently Asked Questions

What does an OPG show?

An OPG is a panoramic or wide view x-ray of the lower face, which displays all the teeth of the upper and lower jaw on a single film. It demonstrates the number, position and growth of all the teeth including those that have not yet surfaced or erupted.

How often should an OPG be taken?

The big dental X-rays (e.g. OPG), need to be done every 5 years (or more often depending on your situation) as part of a general screening and also a useful oral cancer check.

What is the difference between OPG and CBCT?

CBCT measured length of anterior teeth was higher than that measured on OPGin the majority of cases. Molar width (mesio-distal distance) parameter variation was very small between OPG and CBCT.
